Chunansei

Tsu, the seat of the Mie Prefectural government, is the central region for Mie Prefecture industry and culture. [Sakakibara Onsen], about 30 minutes by train from Tsu, is a historical hot spring also mentioned in The Pillow Book of Sei Shonagon (around 964 to ?), a famous woman writer of the Heian Period. Matsusaka, with old town buildings such as [Samurai Home] is also famous for the name-brand Japanese beef [Matsusaka Beef]. In the city, there are rows of restaurants specializing in grilled beef, sukiyaki, shabushabu, etc., so that it is also known as a gourmet city.
